Summer days may be hazy but they haven’t been lazy at Meetinghouse Farm this year. We have enjoyed a wonderful trip to Polly Hill Arboretum on Martha’s Vineyard, a reflective Summer Solstice and a tribute to Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax in the July 4th parade.

The volunteer-maintained flower gardens have produced unique beauties including eye-catching foxtail lilies and a tangerine calla too amazing for cutting. If you are a flower enthusiast, take a minute to check out the gardens.

Inspired by our Polly Hill visit, we will be focusing on the Farm’s trees during the coming year. With the help of local arborist Pete Childs, we plan to improve the health, safety and beauty of existing trees and continue to add new trees as well. For a start, the yellow magnolia planted during this year’s Arbor Day Gathering is happy and growing!

This summer’s art at the farm, on Saturday, August 17th, will be a celebration of nature and creativity. Look for details about garden talks, vendors, art and crafts and, of course, the super Silent Auction.

And if you want to experience garden design on a grand scale, join us for our September trip to the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden! Happy Gardening.
